Harry Potter: Cornwall, England

I cannot recommend the pilgrimage experience more highly. It is a quiet immersion into a world of exploration, kindness, big heartedness and purposeful reflection.

Join Casper and Vanessa for a pilgrimage next May in Cornwall, England! We are thrilled to be able to offer the opportunity to gather together with an intimate group of sixteen pilgrims. We are not sure when the stars (and schedules) will align to make this experience happen again, so if you are interested in being in conversation with two of the core thought partners behind the podcast, this is a special opportunity.

Together, we will explore Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban through the theme of escape. Each day, we will have a morning discussion about our theme, viewing it through a passage of the text. We will engage in sacred reading practices to deepen our understanding of the text and more richly imagine the purposes it can serve in our lives. During the day, we will walk up to twelve miles a day through beautiful countryside, coastline, and woodlands. Using the landscape as a source of inspiration, we will spend our days walking, reading, and joining in conversation about the third book of the series.

WHAT'S INCLUDED:

  • Four nights in a shared room at Erth Barton retreat in Cornwall

  • All meals from tea on the 15th to breakfast on the 19th

  • Transportation within England from the afternoon of the 15th to midday on the 19th within the region

  • One-on-one chaplaincy sessions with Vanessa

  • Private walking tours, picnics, and talks with local experts

  • Customized journal

PRICING/LOGISTICS:

We will be walking up to 12 miles each day, sometimes on hilly terrain. The Cornwall spring is typically beautiful, but the weather in the UK is notoriously variant. It might be mild and sunny, or wet and windy, sometimes all in the same day. We won’t rush our walks, but we expect to be tired at the end of each day.

  • The total cost of the trip is $5,900 for a shared room

  • We have a payment plan for this trip (read below)

  • People who have attended another Common Ground pilgrimage will receive a 5% discount on the cost of the trip

  • Once you register, spots are offered on a first come, first served basis.

  • Within 48 hours of receiving your registration information, we will send you a link to complete your payment for the trip. You will then have 48 hours to fulfill payment and officially reserve your spot.

  • If you cannot fulfill payment, we will offer the spot to the next registrant on the list until all the spots are full.

  • At that point, we will notify any remaining registrants that they are now on our wait list for this trip: if a spot opens up, we will offer it in order, from the earliest to most recent registrant, until it is claimed.

  • If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at commonground@notsorryproductions.com

Payment Plan

We’re thrilled to be able to offer a payment plan that breaks the cost of the pilgrimage into three parts:

$1,000 Deposit Upon Registration

December 1, 2023: $2,450 Automatic Withdrawal

March 1, 2024: $2,450 Automatic Withdrawal

If you’re interested in a payment plan, register at the link and you’ll have the option opt into a payment plan.

More Info

For the time we are together, we will be thinking about what role escape plays in this book and the Harry Potter series as a whole. We’ll connect these themes and conversations to our own lives, asking ourselves questions like: how do we view the idea of escapism? What are we escaping from and what are we escaping towards? What are the means of our escape(s) and how do they operate as positive or negative forces? How are escape and imagination intertwined?

We’ll meet near the Plymouth train station on the early afternoon of the 15th and then travel to the riverside country estate Erth Barton, where we’ll stay for the remainder of our time together. Each day, we will make space for writing, reflection, reading, silence, ancient reading practices and of course, walking.
